PRESS RELEASE: 11/19/22
“Mas Cosmico Arte”

L.A. Vatocosmico c/s - San Antonio Chicano Visual Artist

L.A. Vatocosmico c/s is the cosmic persona of San Antonio based Chicano Visual Artist formerly known as L.A. David. L.A.’s art is a conversion of paradoxical scenes that are far from the norm.  His fluorescent artwork is often humorous and features celestial beings among San Antonio regional sites and traditional symbols of Meso Mexico culture.  His art is eccentric satire with a mixture of cosmic fusion, resulting in profundity in dealing with his cosmic Chicano roots. L.A. Vatocosmico c/s is not your typical traditional artist.  His art has been described as being hysterical pop avant-garde.

L.A.’s showcase “Mas Cosmico Arte” will be one of the featured visual art exhibits at the 2022 Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival in San Antonio, Tx on Saturday, November 19th from 6pm to midnight.  The event is free to the public.

L.A.’s artworks are painted with fluorescent and acrylic pigments and display his avant-garde spirit.  The showcase will utilize blacklight to display his artworks.

He will premier his newest work “La Salida Para Los Cosmicos”. The centerpiece of the showcase is “La Fashionista”, his 5-piece suit creation which traveled nationally with the “Mundos Alternos” art exhibit and was displayed at the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York City (SoHo) and at the University of California Riverside ARTSblock Museum.

L.A.’s funky, eclectic, and psychedelic style combined with his unrelenting Chicano cultural expression gives a romantic view of life.

L.A. Vatocosmico has been a prominent Chicano Artist in San Antonio for decades. L.A.’s funky, eclectic, and psychedelic style combined with his unrelenting Chicano cultural expression gives a romantic view of life. He continues to inspire young and old with his unique style.

Most recently, L.A.’s artwork was selected as part of the Permanent Primo Bus Shelter Laser - Cut Metal Windscreen for the Art in Transit Program with Via Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, TX.  Located on Military Drive in the Southside of San Antonio, his work continues to be exposed to thousands of San Antonians daily.

His unique perspective with combinations of comedy and tragedy, of fantasy and mundanity, all shine with an unalienable pride in his Chicano experience and identity. His artwork passes on that cultural legacy while combining it with his fantastic and extraterrestrial ideas into artwork that looks wholly unique but feels remarkably familiar to the average resident of San Antonio. In all those decades of fantastic vision, L.A. Vatocosmico c/s continues to create his unique art while remaining an artistic treasure to San Antonio and the world.
